I love these boots. They’re a great hiking boot as well as a work boot. Team them with good hiking socks and you’re ready to roll all day! I walk five miles to work and work in all conditions all day and they remain comfortable for the duration.

This is the second pair of this particular model that I've purchased, first for farming, now for Corrections. It has served both roles admirably, but a few particular benefits stand out that prompted the second purchase.

PROS:
First, they are waterproof. Absolutely so, until the water is above your ankle, then it's no longer such a benefit. This is what's expected, of course, and it's all I need. Importantly, they remain waterproof even after years of use. That brings me to second benefit: durability. They took a beating on the farm; never polished; kicked off my treads regularly against stone; wet, dry, wet again; cold weather; nothing phased the seams. Day one to day 600, until I passed them along to my cousin, they were as watertight as the day I bought them. The soles held up well, only about half wear by 2 years, but most of that was soft ground. Finally, they're incredibly comfortable. There is a break-in period, it's very mild but it's there, and once you've got them molded they're wonderful to wear.

Cons:
They are heavy, but with a thick sole and durable leather upper, i'd be suspicious if they weren't. The laces seem short, but if you simply tie the very tip of each side after you lace it all the way up, you can easily loosen the top four ladders and slip your foot in. On the downside, you have to tighten it up by every other ladder, can't just drag on the top to tighten all the laces until you've broken them in some. They get quite hot under direct sunlight, but again, black leather, this isn't a surprise.

The fit was great, however, the boots came all scratched up [I got the brown boots] and the replacement also came scratched up. I found the same boots in the mall and they were nothing [quality-wise] like the ones that came from Amazon. You can wear these boots all day with no pain, however, the quality of the material is horrible so you'll probably need to get a new pair within the year. There is a bit of arch support from the foam insert inside the boots. You can easily take them out and cut those away if you have flat feet. The boots were also not balanced at all [it rocks left and right]. The sole of the boots were also really curved. I guess Timberland was accounting for the bend of your toes when you walk. This made the front of the boots lift up about half an inch from the ground. I personally, prefer the soles to be completely flat or not much of a bend. Timberland's quality has went down A LOT over the past few years. It's sad that they also jack up their prices for certain products especially for such crappy quality.

Very durable.

I gotta say, I've never been this disappointed with Asics shoes in my life. This is my favorite brand and I've probably purchased Asics half a dozen times, but I will never buy this model again. The shoes are extremely uncomfortable. They irritate my feet when I exercise and leave my feet on the verge of blisters. It's so bad that I can't wear them the next day. I'm not sure if maybe they run too big, but that really surprises me because my shoe size doesn't fluctuate and I have always purchased a size 10, sometimes even 10 1/2. Also, if your feet overpronate I do not recommend these at all as the support on these shoes make my overpronation worse.

3-month update:
The shoes are now even worse! If there were was an option to choose 0 stars, I would lower my initial 1-star review. It's only been 3 months and the shoes are actually falling apart. I've had Asics shoes that I've worn for hours, 6 days a week, when I used to do marching band that have held up for literally years, but 3 months in and the soles are detaching. I only wear them twice a week for about 2 hours each day when I go to the gym. I'm beginning to think these are not real Asics and maybe I got a knock-off sent to me. Money down the drain :(

I have a 22 month old son who has being wearing Saucony shoes since he starting walking at 10 months old. We have tried a wide variety of other brands and none of them are as comfortable for him or stay on as well as these do. His previous pair he stomped in garden mud and played in the yard to the point that they looked "destroyed" but I threw them in the washer and you would've never known. These are even better in design as they are easier to wipe off and keep clean. He absolutely loves his red shoes, so we've bought them in different sizes as his feet grow! Highly recommend and will be buying more in the future.
